Our Story

We believe photographs become more meaningful with time.

That belief has guided Sherwood Photography since Richard Marchisotto's father founded the studio in Brooklyn in 1948 — and it guides every session we do today.

Richard Marchisotto holds the Master of Photography and Craftsman degrees from the Professional Photographers of America — the same distinction his father earned before him. Fewer than two percent of photographers ever receive it. It is not something either of them pursued for the credential. It is simply what happens when you care enough to keep getting better.

FAMILIES RETURNING THROUGH GENERATIONS

Alongside Richard is Kevin Togher — partner, studio director, and the person who makes the room feel right the moment he walks into it. Kevin has a gift for putting children at ease, keeping an eye on the details nobody else notices, and creating the kind of relaxed energy that lets real moments happen. While Kevin takes care of the room, Richard takes care of the photograph.

One of the greatest privileges of our work has been watching families return through the years. We've photographed newborns who later returned as children, graduates, engaged couples, and now as parents themselves. The photographs we create today often become the images families treasure most tomorrow.
